Hello Everyone,
During this weeks activities we focused on the online tool Animoto, which is a program that allows you to create interactive and engaging slideshows. Animoto is a program that appeals to many different types of projects and audiences as it has variety of themes, music selections, and more to allow for the user to personalize and tailor the slideshow to fit the users needs. Due to the flexibility, customizability, and user-friendly set up, Animoto is a program that fosters an environment that encourages strong digital literacy by its users. I make this claim because since it is easy to use and learn, first-time users are easily able to use it and enjoy it, which means that users are learning a new online program and improving their digital literacy easily. Furthermore, Animoto promotes digital literacy because when creating a slideshow, users are usually forced to do research and use other online sources to complete the project. By using other online sources, digital literacy is increased throughout the completion of the project as the individual is constantly using his digital literacy to use the online sources in an appropriate manner.
In order to explore the tool Animoto we were tasked with creating a slideshow on the topic of copyrights. As seen in the slideshow below, a copyright is a legal principal that states who can use and distribute an individuals creation. When creating slideshows, and producing documents, it is a crucial part of the digital responsibility that a user has to make sure that if something is copyrighted, that they don't distribute that creation without the proper permission. It is important to note, that if you were creating a slideshow and a picture that you need was copyrighted, if you cite it properly and give the credit where it is due, then you would be free of possible punishment and would be displaying the behavior of a good digital citizen.
Below is my slideshow that was created using Animoto and it is entered around the topic of Copyrights.
Thanks for reading and watching,
Brandon
